Our first guest blogger!

Counting by Sevens is a great book. Willow Chance is a genius kid that is obsessed with medical conditions and plants. When a horrible event happens in her life she gives up trying. The event also causes her to end up with an interesting group of people. Can planting a sunflower garden help bring them together and save Willow from her devastated world? I would recommend this book to people who like to read about oddballs and heartbreak. You were right Mrs. Smeltzer, keeping reading this was all worthwhile.

Friday the 13th

Mrs. MacBride, her daughter Kendra, eight of her students, and I spent the night of Friday the 13th ... having a book club in the library!  We chose Operation Bunny as our book, and kicked off our afternoon reading the first few chapters and making and eating fairy cakes (see chapter 5).

We took a break from reading to make bunny images of ourselves (see chapter 11 and 16).

Then Mrs. MacBride tried to guess who each bunny was.

We also had an awesome salad bar supper and then a visit from Charlotte's rabbit BunBun.
What a fun way to kick off our summer reading!

4 down, 16 to go!

I just finished Operation Bunny.  You can go to the GSF review page to see how I liked it.  I am looking forward to Friday, when Mrs. MacBride, some of her students, and I are going to have an after school book club to read the book and do some crafts to go with it.  Pink bunnies and fairy wing fun!

I am going to read The Short Seller next.  Do you think it is better to read all the books you're really interested in first, or to save them until last?  After I read all the books that are assigned to me, I am going to alternate.

June has arrived!

Ahhh, summer is almost here and it is time to think about having all the time in the world to READ!  I am so excited about the collection of books that I am gathering for everyone to enjoy this summer.  I should have the Swasey Summer site completely updated and ready to share with you all by next week.  There will be reading opportunities for everyone, from PreK to Grade 5.  You can also be a guest blogger during the summer.  I can't wait!

Here's what I'm reading today.  If you click on the book you can read about it!
