Chet and his friends were swimming in a lake but he had a feeling that someone or something was watching him.  Then he saw it! It was a HUGE,LARGE, gray fin slicing through the water like a knife!!! “GET OUT OF THE WATER!!!” Was it really a shark or were his friends just fooling around with him!?   FIND OUT!

Middle School The Worst Years of My Life
Do want to want to survive in middle school?  Well this book tells you how. Rafe is starting a new school called Hills Village Middle School. He did not like it. Rafe calls it a prison. His brother Leonardo (Leo for short) died when he was little, but Rafe still pretends that he is still alive . They came up with a idea called “Operation R.A.F.E.’’ which you have to break every rule in the book. Will he get caught or in trouble? Read the book to find out.I thought book was funny because all the illustrations. I recommend this book to people who like funny books because the book says you will laugh your head off on every page. Boys and girls who like Graphic Novels (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) will love it too.  By Charlotte

3 Curses is the second book in Michelle Harrison’s trilogy. It is about Red, a girl with the second sight. This means she can see fairies. But not fairies you would want to bump into. Evil fairies. In order to be freed from the fairy realm, she has to find all 13 charms from her friend Tanya’s bracelet. But, as she finds more of the charms (with help from Tanya and Fabian) she figures out that the fairies have not just hidden the charms, they’ve cursed them too! I would recommend this to readers that like exciting yet and thick books. I am now reading the 3rd and final book of this series, 13 Secrets.

Bejamin Franklinstein Meets The Fright Brothers

Bejamin Franklinstein Meets The Fright Brothers
By Matthew McElligott and Larry Tuxbury

Are you ready for a scare?  Two vampires, under the control of the evil emporer, are terrorizing Philadelphia.  They have zappers that put people under their control.  Ben Franklin comes back to life to save the day.  A little boy named Victor helps Ben Franklin defeat the vampires who are known as the Fright Brothers.  This book can be hard to follow and is a little scary.  If you like ghosts and vampires, you will enjoy reading this book!

Delicious Day

It was so much fun getting together at Memories yesterday.  I loved hearing about everyone's summer of reading and visits to beaches and amusement parks.  If you went home with a new book, enjoy!  Here are a few pictures, I'm sorry that I missed some of you.

Meet us at Memories!

Today is the day!  Mrs. Brown, Mrs. MacBride, Mrs Monsell, and Mrs. Smeltzer (that's me) are meeting at the Memories Ice Cream stand in Kingston today at 2:00.  We'll be chatting about all of the Great Stone Face books we've read so far and we're bringing some books to swap.  Come on down, tell us what you've been up to, and bring a book to swap.  And of course, there may be some ice cream eating too!

The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary

A real mouse riding a toy motorcycle?  That's odd!  Find out all about Ralph and all his adventures!   Ralph is a mouse that was born to ride!   He lives in a mouse hole with his family in the Mountain View Inn in room 215. He watches a boy enter the room.  The boys name was Keith and he settled in to room 215.  Keith had a toy motorcycle that he loses under his bed.  Ralph finds the motorcycle one night and he can't resist taking it for a ride!
Opinion:  My opinion about this book is it was old fashioned and and an adventure.I love this book.
I would recommend this book to  boys and girls who like fantasy, adventure, and animals.

Will any thing happen to Ralph on his exciting motorcycle ride?

Accolades for a Swasey Student

One of our very own Swasey fourth graders, Alexis, just received news that her poem, A Dog at your Door, is going to be published!  The book of poetry is called Accolades, and will be coming out in the fall. We'll have to wait until then to read her poem, and check out this awesome book.  In the meantime, check out this series that Alexis has been reading:

This is a great book for good readers. I would recommend it to most fourth-graders. In this book, Tanya can see fairies. But not the fairies you and I imagine. Evil fairies. Her mother sends her to live with her grandmother at Elvesden (elves meaning fairies!) Manor. While trying to solve a mystery about a missing girl, Tanya finds herself dangerously close to disappearing herself. This book is by Michelle Harrison. I am now reading book 2 13 Curses. ~Alexis, Grade 4
