Book reviews written by our Grade 3 students.

This was one of my favorite books of the year.  Robbie goes to spend the summer with his grandmother, who sometimes makes his musician parents a bit nervous.  Is it because she serves donuts for dinner? Maybe its because she takes Robbie into the woods, where the animals seem to know her.  Robbie learns a lot about himself during his eventful visit with his grandma Maddy.

Everybody's favorite class pet goes to summer camp!




Mike is obsessed with magic, but his parents, not so much.  He has to be a model student , which can be exhausting, in order for his parents to let him visit his favorite magic shop and learn the secrets to the latest tricks.  This fiction book also explains the magic tricks so you can try them too! Let's get on the road! In Mission Unstoppable by Dan Gutman, the McDonalds are riding cross-country all the way to Washington D.C. hoping to be there in time for their Aunt Judy's wedding. But danger lurks everywhere. The McDonald twins Coke and Pepsi don't know it but they were selected for a secret program, The Genius Files, where kids would solve the problems of the world. Two best friends are the only ones who can stop the lost spells.  Mummies, the Stung Man, and Egypt are in the grip of madness.  This book takes you back to ancient Egypt and in tombs and graves.  M.C.




This book is a happy book, but also a sad book. Ivan the ape and his other friends Bob the dog and some elephants are on their crazy adventures. N. Ha.




This story is about some boys and girls that are having a dare contest and are doing crazy dares..  There are some great dares that blow your mind and are SO funny. I like this book about all the dares and the ending.  It also makes you wonder.  G.T




George and harold make comics. Their principal is Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants fights crime and is an evil principal. It is very funny. A.M.




This book is about three Bone creatures. They are always getting into trouble and going on adventures. I think this book is awesome. R.P.




This book is about exciting adventures with time travel, flying, and jail breaks. When Serious Black breaks out of Azkaban, and Buckbeak the hippogryph is to be executed, Harry Potter has to save the day. I think this is an exciting book that you have to read. C.K.




You can't trust anyone in these "hero's" world. These heroes have weird emotions. They are heroes, outlaws, and jealous people. I love this series. A.S.




This book is an awesome guide if you are getting your braces. If you like to read about people having trouble with school you will like this. I personally like this because I am getting braces. S.S.




There is a dog that has a lot of gas. You should read it because he has a problem farting. It is really funny. M.D.



The brother and sister almost die while they find out that their "dead" uncle is immortal. The two twins go on an adventure. I like the book because it has different mysteries in it. M.M.




Edgar and Allan Poe are related to Edgar Allan Poe, the poet.  Can Edgar Allan Poe help his great-great-great grand nephews? It is really funny. N.H.




This book is funny. Bink is a girl that doesn't want to hang out with Gollie. Gollie is sad. In the end they become friends. It was a good ending because they became friends. R.L.




Have you ever wanted to go inside someone's mind? What if it was a baby's mind? In this story you sort of go into a baby girl's mind every day all year long and you see what the baby is thinking. My opinion of the book is that it is very fun at some parts. I also think it would be good for 2nd and 3rd grade. H.N.




Crack! Boom! Rumble rumble! This book is about a boy who takes an adventure on a huge peach with complete strangers. I think this book is good for kids ages 5 and up. E.B.




The Raft is about a boy who found a raft at his grandmother's lake. He makes lots of pictures on his raft. the pictures he draws on it are animals that he sees. The kid did not want to go to his Gramma's lake. He finds a raft and paddles it across the lake, and he finds animals, one deer, a rabbit, birds. I like this book because there's drawing in the book. And the boy and the Gramma go good together. K.B.




What if you were so bad, you got an F a lot? Find out in Trouble-maker. He changes, but see how. If you do not read it you will regret it. I think it is a great book because you have to think a lot. R.M.


Bang! Bang! Crash! Crash! Boggis, Bunce, and Bean try to kill fantastic Mr. Fox's family when he steals their food. Boggis, Bunce and Bean are all farmers. Boggis is fat and only eats chickens. Bunce is a midget and he eats ducks, and Bean is really skinny and only eats apple cider. This book would be good for grades 3 and 4. J.D.

Dig, dig, dig! Boggis, Bunce, and Bean are trying to catch Mr. Fox! Fantastic Mr. Fox is about a fox and 3 farmers. The farmers are over Farming and Mr. Fox must steal. I think this book is fantastic! M.M.T.




Ouch! Maura hit Greg in the nose! Greg sells toys at school and he makes a good amount of money. He knows what to spend it on, he doesn't just waste it. I think it is really funny when Maura hits Greg in the nose. P.G.




Do you love scary stories? If you do you'll love this book! This book is full of short stories that will spook anyone. I love this book because it is full of lots of scary stories! L.M.



Kaboom! One tower goes up in flames. This is only one of the exciting adventures I Survived brings to you. Max is handing out newspapers. Find out what happens next. I think this book is awesome. I would recommend this book to people who like exciting and adventurous books. J.L.



Come, be in Edward's journey. Prepare for an adventurous but sad book. Edward is a china bunny that has a dream. When he falls in the ocean, his journey begins. I love this book because I love adventure! A.C.




What if your cat Rusty disappeared from your front yard without warning? In Into the Wild, Rusty the kittypet finds himself wandering in the forest, then into Warrior clan Thunderclan's territory. He has been prophesied even before he was born more than once. I like this book because you never know what will happen next. It can get very funny sometimes. A.T.




Ralph Fletcher is a kid who grows up with 9 kids in his life. Lots of bad things happened, so read the book to find out what his life was like as a kid. My opinion of the book is that this is the best book that I've read. If you want more read Fig Pudding. R.P.
